Premm Design
How a design agency modernised its IT stack and met Cyber Essentials
Background
Premm Design has been delivering standout creative work since 1991. With a tight seven-person team, they’ve supported major UK brands, including the English Football League, the London Stock Exchange, major financial institutions, and charities, offering graphic design, branding, and digital and web design services.
But behind the scenes, their IT foundations were ageing fast.
The challenge: A hybrid world built on ageing hardware
When lockdown hit, Premm Design’s office-bound, on-premises server suddenly had to support hybrid work.
Remote access was slow. Hardware was outdated. Secure data access was a pain. If something broke, someone physically had to come into the office to fix the server. And with client expectations rising around cybersecurity, the cracks became impossible to ignore.
The tipping point came when a major client required Cyber Essentials certification to continue working with them. Their ageing hardware simply wouldn’t meet the standard.
“To tick the right boxes for Cyber Essentials, a lot of our hardware just couldn’t be permitted anymore,” says Kevin.
Premm Design faced a choice – Invest more in on-premise hardware that would age and limit them again in a few years’ time, or use this opportunity to modernise, move to the cloud, and set themselves up for the future.
The team had also been managing IT on its own, with Kevin carrying most of the load. It wasn’t sustainable. It was time for a change.
Why CloudClevr: Flexibility, expertise and actual support
Premm Design explored two suppliers to help them move to the cloud and achieve Cyber Essentials certification. CloudClevr was recommended by a company they trusted, and the difference in approach was immediate. Where other suppliers were rigid and prescriptive, CloudClevr took the time to understand, listen, and adapt.“From the first meeting, we felt genuinely looked after. CloudClevr were flexible, happy to answer every question, and willing to tailor the solution to meet our requirements.
The other supplier felt set in stone, CloudClevr felt like a partner,” explains Kevin.
That confidence before signing the contract carried through into delivery.
“CloudClevr didn’t just set everything up and leave us to it. They made sure I understood the system before go-live. They were friendly, professional, and supportive.”, says Kevin.
The solution: A seamless move to Microsoft 365, SharePoint & OneDrive
The CloudClevr team began with a full discovery of Premm Design’s existing IT setup:
- Current infrastructure and file volumes
- Backup and archive processes
- Gaps preventing Cyber Essentials compliance
- Remote access behaviour and workflow needs
From there, CloudClevr migrated the agency to a cloud-first environment built on Office 365, SharePoint, and OneDrive, ensuring compliance, security, and easy access to files from anywhere.
For a creative agency handling large Photoshop files, performance was a non-negotiable. CloudClevr guaranteed a seamless experience and delivered.
“Everyone was worried about lag with our big Photoshop files. But once we were up and running with the Microsoft-hosted solution, no one reported a single issue, which is fantastic.”
The impact: A transformative shift in how the team works
Before migration, the team juggled version control, manually copying files from local machines to servers, and someone was constantly tracking which files were the latest.
Now, everything lives in one place – securely and accessible from anywhere, giving hours back to the team.
“The last 18 months on the old server were really tough. Now everything is seamless. We’re working on live files, saving hours of time every week, and the stress of version control has disappeared.”
With CloudClevr’s support, they achieved Cyber Essentials, safeguarding client relationships and preparing for rising industry expectations for supply-chain security.
“More organisations will demand Cyber Essentials from suppliers going forward. Now we’re ready and confident we can meet those requirements”
Working with CloudClevr
What stood out most to Kevin about CloudClevr wasn’t just the technology – it was the partnership.
“CloudClevr didn’t just set everything up and leave us to it. They made sure I understood the system before go-live. They were friendly, professional, and supportive.”
“Nothing is ever too much trouble. If there’s a problem, they find a solution – not excuses. From start to finish, the migration project went as smoothly as we could ever have hoped. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend CloudClevr for anyone looking for an IT partner,” concludes Kevin.
With a stable, secure and modern cloud environment in place, Premm Design can now focus on what they do best: delivering world-class creative work.
